Parent–child-agreement on health-related quality of life and its determinants in patients born with Esophageal Atresia: a Swedish–German cross-sectional study

Abstract Background The aim was to compare parent and child-reported health-related quality of life (HRQOL) children born with esophageal atresia (EA) determine factors that affect the level parent–child agreement. Methods We included 63 dyads EA aged 8–18 from Germany Sweden. generic PedsQL 4.0™ questionnaire condition-specific QOL were used assess children’s HRQOL parents' perspectives. PedsQL™ Family Impact Module parental Functioning. Results On an individual level, intra-class correlation coefficients indicated strong levels agreement (.61–.97). At group analyses showed no significant differences between responses parents children. When a disagreement occurred, more likely rate lower than (19–35%) higher (17–33%). Findings binary logistic regression analyzes child’s age, gender, country (Germany vs. Sweden) predictors in HRQOL. did not identify any variables explain for Conclusion is mostly good, suggesting parent-reports are reliable source information. However, discrepancies may occur can be explained by child's (Sweden Germany). Both perspectives essential sources treating patients should considered right or wrong. Instead, this information broadens perspective on pediatric patients.
